Leo Woontner April 18, 1920 ­ July 10, 2008 Published: Friday, July 11, 2008 1:15 AM EDT Leo Woontner, 88, died at 1:30 a.m. Thursday in Millers Merry Manor. He was born in Detroit, Mich. to the late Morris and Cecilia Woontner. He married Elaine Jean Rosenbaum on July 11, 1955. She survives. Leo received his Doctorate of Chemistry at Wayne State University, Detroit, Mich. He worked as a chemist at RCA. He and his wife were master gardeners, members of Sinai Temple and the Audobon Society, and were supporters of the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra. Additional survivors include daughter, Susan (Jose) Picart, Cary, N.C.; son, Michael (Regina) Woontner, Denver, Colo.; and grandchildren, Barbara, Rebecca, Aaron, and Emily. Burial will be in Estates of Serenity, Marion. There will be no visitation Memorial contributions may be directed to Friends of Asherwood or Sinai Temple Endowment Fund.
